Figs find a home…

With the wonderful rain last week we managed to do some tree planting. Thanks to Abi’s help we got about 25 extra trees in the ground in one afternoon – Some home-grown Silky Oaks and Hoop Pines, a couple of Bunya Pines AND some fantastic Fig trees grown and given to us by our good friend Melanie.

Figs are so important for wildlife. Although these guys have a long way to grow until they reach full size we have visions of their spreading branches and huge buttress roots reaching out across the open wallaby grazing paddock, providing shade, shelter and food into the future.

Thanks heaps Melanie for passing these special guys on so they could find a forever home at Araucaria Sanctuary.
