The beauty of White Cedar

The White Cedars (Melia azedarach) are putting on a spectacular display of flower this year. The scent is subtle but delicious.

These deciduous trees are found across Araucaria Sanctuary, and self seed readily so are a real friend to our bush regen efforts. They provide sun into the wallaby yards in winter and shade in summer. Unfortunately they also are a favorite of the White Cedar Moth, which (for part of its lifecycle) is a very itchy hairy grub which causes grief to us and the joeys. But for now we are focusing on the beauty of the flowers…
